Back for More

So it is my job to fill you in on the Safari trip. You will have to wait on that though. It will be a big one.

I have two (three by the end of writing) little stories for this go round. First, the Ramadan/Idul Fitri season has just ended here in Jakarta. During Idul Fitri everyone is supposed to travel back to their home village. We had multiple people in the office take the full week off with many taking two weeks off.

I became very sad this past Monday when it took me 45 minutes to get to work. Now, 45 minutes is a normal trip to work for me. The bother comes with the fact that it was taking 15 minutes to get to work while everyone is out of town!

The second story is more of a staff update. We have successfully pillaged a nanny from someone else. They did not pay near our rate and did not even give the girl off for Idul Fitri. She will begin in about 2 weeks. We also picked up a Cook/Nanny. Murni started today. She did the grocery shopping and then cooked enchiladas for dinner. They were not as good as Erin's, but the were better than Amigos, the mexican food restraunt in town. On top of that, our car was delivered on Saturday. Three carseats fit in the back seat, barely. Our new driver, Sarif, started on Monday. He worked at the American Club for 14 years before he began driving for American families in 1997. He has very good English, and he likes to speak "directly", which is rare here.

The third story is more of a story, but only Kyle and Phillip may appreciate it. Saturday November 4 was Worldwide D&D day. The boys and I had to participate. Erin ran to the store and Jack went down for a nap. For a full hour, I was able to keep the attention of Isaac, Alex, and Luke. They liked it when they got to roll the dice. The Paladin (Isaac) told the king he would not help him recover his missing treasure. His party members convinced him to go along. They rescued the Queen in the first encounter. She told them the treasure had been taken to a nearby hideout.

Of course the brave adventurers pressed forward. They made it through the gate guards. Then they ran into the Big Bad Evil Guy (BBEG). He and his minion were supposed to put up a bit of a fight before the BBEG ran away. The minon went down quick so the BBEG went to run away. Then the worst thing that can happen to a DM happened. Luke the Dwarf Cleric managed to get the BBEG in his sights. A Hold Person spell paralyzed the BBEG, and he became easy pickings for the group with no other protection. Don't you hate it when the BBEG who is supposed to be around for a long time gets knocked out like that?!

Anyway, they found the treasure after Alex the Rogue picked the lock. He missed the fire trap on the chest so everyone took a bit of damage. After we were done, they even had the gall to tell me that Daddy lost! I did not lose, they just made it through the adventure. Well... I did lose my BBEG.
