We set out early one Friday morning from Jakarta to Taman Safari. On the way we saw many folks selling carrots on the side of the road. Food for the animals we decided as we purchased some. We arrived early and hit the restroom. Jack was the first creature to be photographed as some Indonesians saw him, ran their 2 year old up next to him, and took a picture.At 9:00 the park opened and we were on our way. The first stop in the safari had hippos and zebras, hungry zebras.
We passed by some monkeys, elephants, giraffes, and a peacock. Then we ran into a small roadblock.
We made it through the driving part of the safari, and we parked to see the rest. I saw the most beautiful bird feeder ever. We declined taking pictures with the leopard or tiger cubs. I broke the number one safety rule given out by ConocoPhillips Indonesia: Don't do anything that might be STUPID, like being walked over by an Elephant. Erin already showed you the best picture we have of that.We braved the Gondola ride. Once we got home, we noticed what they had stamped on the tickets when we got them. It seems the 25,000 rupia was not enough so they raised our ticke price to 30,000 ($3.00). Here is Alex in the Alps, or is that mountainous Indonesia?
When we landed from that ride, we had lunch and then headed home. The park was filling up, and heading up the mountain was jammed with people leaving Jakarta for the weekend. Good thing we had an early start.
The safari was a fun trip that we would take visitors to, if anyone ever decides to come over here. I think Jack had the most fun. Once we got him up out of his carseat so he could actually see something, he laughed at all the animals. There it is. I hope it was worth the wait.

looks like a good time. seems a lot more fun than the zoo. But I did notice that in the tiger picture it appears that it was taken from inside the car with the window rolled up--why didn't you get out for a closeup?
Why were people taking pictures of Jack? Because he's different? I didn't realize that was Justin in the elephant stomping picture. Wow, you're brave!
