more memories from Bali...
After a day at the safari park, we decided to take our "wild animals" to the local water park for a day of aquatic adventures. Waterbom was all the rave when we talked with other expats before we headed to Bali, so we thought we'd give it a try. Sorry there were no pictures from this experience. I decided taking our digital camera to the WATERpark might not be the best idea, so you have to leave it to my wonderful descriptions to get a picture of what this park was all about OR you can check out their website, www.waterbom.com.
Upon first entering the park, we thought to ourselves, "how are we going to spend an entire day here and get our $20 worth?" At first glance, there did not appear to be much to do, but we soon realized that much of the park was hidden by trees which provided much needed shade for the HOT Bali weather. And the triplets were able to ride on most of the waterslides.
So what made this waterpark different from the many we have visited before? Well, the first noticeable difference were the little bales (the tropical looking huts that were pictured with our hotel pictures) that were placed around the park for rent. They were the ideal place to relax in the shade by the pools, designate a meeting place for your group and have food served to you all for around $10. Now that I have a full appreciation for their worth, I think next time we would splurge to rent one.
The park also had a waterslide ride that I had never seen before called The Boomerang which is a pretty good description of the shape of the ride. Justin and I each took a turn riding this one and it was pretty fun.
Luke and Alex turned out to be our main waterslide riders. We broke them in on The Macaroni tube ride and eventually worked up to a mat slide. Justin was persistent about getting the kids to leave the kiddy park and try the bigger slides. He even was persausive enough to talk Isaac into trying the mat slide. And after one time down, he was hooked. So while Justin took the triplets on some rides, Jack and I hung out on the Lazy River, which came to be Jack's favorite ride. He kept saying, "I want to go in the river with MOMMY." It was cute and good bonding time for us.
After spending about 6 hours at the waterpark, we ended our day with a trip to Bubba Gump's. This is another American restaurant that has become a home-away-from-home comfort for us since we moved. When we go there it reminds us of our lunches with Mam-ma and Grandpa in Monterrey after a trip to the aquarium. Although neither the Bubba Gump's in Hong Kong or the one in Bali have had those oh-so-yummy hush puppies, we still enjoy the seafood.
