Let the Games Begin!

Wednesday afternoon sure was interesting here in Jakarta. The triplets and Coach Justin had their first T-Ball practice. We had 9 kids out to practice with the T-Ball Rockies. First on the practice list was running the bases. First base was much easier than I though it would be. However, getting to second was an adventure. Our field backed up to a "machine pitch" field. Three of the kids (including Alex) ran really fast to our first base, missed the turn to second, and continued to the closest base on the other field. After that we enlisted some base coaches for running practice.

Next on the list was batting practice. One of the two experienced players showed everyone how to swing, and then everyone went out to field the ball. After a few hits, the action in the field ramped up. One of the kids bent down to get a ground ball and someone else came diving in after the ball. A scary knee buckle followed. Then there was the dogpile ball with 5 kids in the pile fighting over the ball. Luckily Erin had a great idea to get the other parents to keep the kids spread out a bit. After that, the worst we had was a near shoulder separation. If you saw the first ever XFL run for the ball, you know what I am talking about. The first kid in dove for the ball while the second jumped on him and made him roll badly on his shoulder. I breathed a sigh of relief when he got up and everything was still attached. I really did think about the XFL as it happened.

Saturday is our first "practice" game. All three currently formed (hoping for a 4th soon) T-Ball teams will get together. It is such short notice, none of the teams will probaly have enough player by themselves. Alex and Luke will miss it since they are in Singapore with Erin. They have ENT check-ups and a trip to the "Disney Magic" stage show.
