Thankful for Monday!

I don't think I have ever been so thankful for a Monday. After a crazy, busy weekend, I am enjoying a little down time this morning. And in my down time, I thought I would send out an update about some of the fun activities that went on this weekend that filled our days.

First up...

WELCOME TO BETHANCOURT FIELD
Home to Isaac, Alex and Luke's 7th Birthday Party
(If you don't recongize the venue, it is because our great neighbors let us borrow their house and pool for the party!)

Enter SPRING TRAINING

We tested for accuracy with the BASEBALL TOSS.

We tested for dexerity with the CARD FLIPPING.

And in their off time, the future baseball stars practiced their AUTOGRAPHING skills on each other and then found some "oldtimers" (i.e. parents, nannies, maids, security guards...) to sign their balls.

The DRAFT

After a tough spring training Comissioner Justin ran a draft for 3 teams...

Isaac's Astros
Drafted on to Isaac's team - Noah, Sean, Blaine, Jonatan, Joshua and Santi

Luke's Yankees

Drafted on to Luke's team - Bachir, Luka, Jacob, Jared, Finn and Daniel

Alex's Cardinals

Drafted on to Alex's team - Dhruv, Liam, Caden, Zachary, Jack and Victor

Then it was off to the field for SEASON PLAY.

Game 1: THE LONGEST HIT COMPETITION - using a blow up bat to hit a stuffed baseball

And the winner....
Santi of the Astros

Game 2: THE DIZZY BAT RACE - with the bat standing on the ground, put your forehead on the handle, spin around the bat 5 times, run to touch the base and then come back and tag your teammate.

The Astros were declared the winner in this contested race. One of the Cardinals (Jack) had benched himself for the game. The Astros and the Yankees ran an extra player. It came down to a play at the plate. There was some confusion in the end until Commissioner Justin came forward and called the game for the Astros.

Game 3: THE TARGET THROW - targets were set up in the field of play with point values varying from 10 to 50. teams rotated to 3 spots on the field. at each spot, each player on the team threw 3 balls, trying to land them on the targets to gain points for their team.

After the 3 rounds of play, the Astros were the decided victors with more than double the score of the 2nd place team.

So, it was a season sweep by the Astros, 3-0. But all the teams ended the season with a celebration...hotdogs, cake and swimming.

It was a GREAT 7th birthday!

weekend fun stories to be continued...

sounds like fun. The Astros won more games there this weekend then they have in the MLB just about all season.
